Seemingly, you should be happy and feeling peaceful and content. And yet you are not. something is clearly missing, something essential.

What is the ego?

Is the mind your enemy? Not at all.

 

The mind is a brilliant and invaluable function of reflection and action, and the mental voice is its natural processing tool. This voice is how it thinks.

 

The problem is formed when we consider this function to be who we are rather than our tool. That is the birth of the ego and of the lifelong pathological condition of suffering.
